Home depo sells heat wrap for ductwork. It comes in various size rolls. It's about 1/8" thick. Mount it between the aluminum protector and the paint and you're good to go.This will create a thermal barrier between the plate and the paint.Use a hitemp adhesive to mount the barrier to the alum plate. The heat will never transfer through to the paint.
