I've seen the pre- and post-Ford records at DeTomaso. I looked at the records for my current car, #9375. It listed build options, color, and sold-to information. One half-sheet of paper.
I then looked at the records for my former '72, #3874, and there was even less information. Basically an acknowlegment that it was built, but nothing on "sold to" or options or anything.
There ARE factory records for the Ford-era cars sold in Europe. I saw the records for one of the Factory Group 4 racecars, and it was probably an inch thick, bulging with receipts, records, and photos. If your car was sold in France, it might contain more information than a US-car, but in any case the records are no longer available as the factory has closed.
