Hi Steve,
Before I sold mine, I went through the same thing. Just couldn't bear to drill holes in that paint. I was going to add a tiny backup camera to the wing window and a small display mounted on the right side of the dash. I actually made a geometrically complicated piece of delrin to mount the mirror at the correct angle . Let me know if you're interested and I'll send it to you.
