I did the emergency hood release!!

Yep, old Detom actualy did something on his Pantera and it took even me just over an hour to do it. I had my hood open the other day for some reason, forgot now why, but when I went to shut it back up, I thought to myself about all the guys saying that if that little cable ever breaks you are truly screwed. That the only way to ever get that front lid open is to take a crowbar and sledge hammer to it and pray you can fix the damage latter. So what I did was leave the little trunk lid open to add the infamous emergency release cable when I had time. Well today I had time cause I took some vacation from work. I looked at the cable that was already there and even though it looks like it is still in great shape, I took some old fencing wire I had laying around and routed it through the same holes in the body work and wrapped the free end around the regular elease lever, just in case it ever does break. I even tested it and if you use a pair of pliers to pull on it it pops open the hood.
Now this is something you will probably never have to use in your whole life, but it is real reassuring that it is there just in case. And most important of all if all-thumbs Detom can do it, you can do it in your sleep. In fact, since I am the most mechanically incompetant person who graces this here forum, I am going to write a post everytime I do something on my car. That way people reading it will go "God if that klutz can do it, I should be able to knock it out in ten minutes." A confidence builder kind of thing. Now none of my posts will ever talk about changing out tranny gears or any of that cool stuff, it will be stuff even a moron can do. Big Grin
