I just got another email from the buyer on my other computer, saying "I cannot pay the tax, I am stuck away at work, and don't know when I will be back, but I need the car as quickly as possible. Please send the $3000 and I will instruct my assistant to then overpay you the same amount.

I sent him an email back saying "I'm very sorry, but this is THE classic 'you send me money first so I can send you the money' scam, not that THIS is a scam, but I'm not sending any money anywhere".

I then suggested he instruct his assistant to take the $3000 from the original wire transfer amount, and use THAT to pay the tax, and I'd trust him to send me the remaining $3000 when he was able to do so.

I told him I'd send him the car if he underpayed me by $3000, and would trust him to send me the remaining $3000 when he was able.

MAN, it just STINKS like FISH around here right now!
