In order to avoid the expensive switch replacement I have left the key side in the unlock position and pulled the electrical side and connected it to a universal hot rod ignition switch. Works great, but now I think this switch is faulty due to the fact that the car will without warning shut down, cold or hot. Luckily it restarts and has only been embarrassing and not dangerous. I'm going to replace the switch again but should the switch have a certain amperage rating? Can you suggest an aftermarket switch (e.g. Ron Francis?) Thanks.
