Ignition Switch - Sipea 50050

I am in the process of swapping out my ignition switch on my 72. I removed the column, and the ignition switch break off bolts which hold the switch to the column. What I am seeing makes me think a prior owner modified the car. The switch is a Sipea 50050. I found a few posts in the forum about them but not much. The column also looks like it has been cut to accommodate. Is anyone aware of this modification?
