Yawp, I hear ya. I love the look of the gated shifter, but find that it doesn't function as well as it looks. Mine rattled, scraped and generally made shifting somewhat clunky. The fingerless shift gates (only one finger seperating reverse) make shifting feel "normal". The only problem with them is that they don't look nearly as cool... thus our shift boot was born.
