I'm going through this myself right now. I was going to get a 1-wire alternator from one of the vendors, with the internal voltage regulator, but when I called PPC today they wanted $245, and my latest Hall catalog shows $170. So instead, I got the standard-wired 100amp alternator from PI Motorsports for $100. I figure I can add an external solid-state voltage regulator if I want, and still save money vs the other vendor options I found.
