Installing Rack and Pinion

I'm about ready to install my rebuilt rack and Pinion and was wondering if there was any special instructions on the install like:
How do you know if the rack is centered?
When connecting to the steering spline is there anything to watch out for?
I've read the tie rod boot from Energy Suspension is the one to use. Is there any others that are a direct install?
