This picture isn't very good but it might show you what i did. I drew some lines on the photo to show the 2 different pieces of metal used.
The upper part can be pulled down for access. I used aluminum, 18 guage I think, to form the upper shape (yellow lines). The aluminum goes down to the top of the curved lower piece. From there down I screwed some curved sheet metal to the car, (red) to form the curve at the bottom where the floor curves up to the fold down part. The carpet acts as a hinge. I used some 8" dia stove pipe from home depot for the pre-bent curve.
