TTam, the advantage of Konis is, they have always had externally adjustable damping so the fronts can be set lighter than the rears to compensate for the weight distribution disparity. On 1980s shocks, ride height is only adjusted with separate spring shims. Screw-adjustable spring seats were not available at that time. For originality-aficianados, orange Konis were stock on Euro GTS & Gr-3 cars so may be considered an 'option'.
