Laid back seat

I'm thinking of raising the front of my seats 1 to 2 inches. To let me move it foward on the track and lay back in the car more.
I've moved my steering wheel 2 1/4"close to me so there is plenty of leg room.(can see the gauges too!)early 72
Has any one done this before ?
what is a good height?
Did you support the whole track or just the end where the bolt goes thru the floor. Thanks RC
