No problem, glad the pic helped.
I normally dont check the ZF Forum but was searching for some other info when I saw your post.
I removed this cover to make sure everything was greased properly while chasing some shift problems. The mass of goo in the bottom corner is grease that had solidified. I don't think the cover had been off since leaving italy.
I packed grease around the joints and the shift rod at the "bellows" boot and it works fine. I put this on the periodic maintenance list.
