Hi guys and thanks for input.
Having done a little more investigation and deciding I had little to loose. I dissembled the the heater valve. and went to a local seal merchant and he located modern replacement seals for the o ring top cap and cup seal shaft end for $10.00 kiwi. about $7.80 US. I have not replaced the tapered seat seal at this stage as a one off can be manufactured for about $100.00 kiwi $ as was more concerned with the leak into the interior of the car. if I was to have more produced for exmaple 100 would likely cost about $5.00 NZ apiece. So you can see a replacement kit could be produced for very little. add a little labour to bead blast or polish the tap and pressure test. job done.
