I finished the hole with some flexible door edge trim I picked up at the local Pepboys. I'm in a remote local at the moment (N. Alberta), but will get you the part number when I return home next weekend.

The plugs are actually again from the auto parts store, they are just trim holders, with plastic washer behind as keepers.

I'll post or send you a pic of the bracket as well.
