Reply to "looking to rebuild or replace ignition switch on my 74"

I had a 64 vette that would not start, sometimes, when hot, I put on starter heat shields. I had a jumper wire permenatly attached to the starter solonoid so I could jump it to the batt. One day after pulling out hair, I noticed that the 30 year old wire feeding from the switch was kinda stiff, and brittle. I replaced it and it solved MY proplem. Word has it that wires build up resistance over the years, and a heavy load on the small wire somehow align/ disalign molecules that cause current flow resistance. Only when hot .. sometimes. Make sure you have a good wire and connections. Bill 1362
