WELBOURN, Gavin Kirk BMath MBA In his 50th year, peacefully and gracefully at home, where he wanted to be, on February 1, 2009, with his beloved wife and daughter by his side. His family and friends will always remember Gavin as the "go-to guy" for everyone who needed some timely advice or some of his extensive wisdom - always delivered kindly and without judgement. Gavin was a pillar of support for his family, friends, and countless business associates. An accomplished and fair-minded business person, he will also be remembered for his volunteer work with Hope Air and Habitat for Humanity, where he sought to make a contribution to those who were not as fortunate. Incessantly curious, Gavin always wanted to know how things worked. He had a breadth of knowledge of many thingsand things he "just knew about." A lover of his family and friends, music, tequila, wine, his Pantera, flying and the cottage, he will be sorely missed at our gatherings. Constantly seeking answers about the bigger questions, Gavin has, true to style, gone on ahead to investigate the ultimate question. Gavin is survived by his wife Tamara (née Bourret) and daughter Rebecca, his parents Margaret and Keith, his sisters Rona (Keith Williams) and Leanne, Tamara's brothers Paul (Martha) and Joe (Judy) and numerous nieces and nephews. A brief but intense Celebration of his life (much like his life itself) will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 3-5 p.m., with a special tribute to Gavin at 4:30. A special thank you to Dr. Costin and the health care professionals and nursing staff at Joseph Brant Hospital who gave Gavin amazing and supportive care during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Ride to Conquer Cancer (http://to09.conquercancer.ca).
