I bought a ZF off ebay a while back, and despite the seller's probaby honest assurance that it was good, it really needed a lot of work and high dollar parts. I'd make sure that the seller will allow an inspection before I'd pay much over $2K.
What would worry me about this one is what looks like light rust where the speedo gear attaches. If it's been out in the open, that's not good. If moisture got inside it's super bad news. I don't know where Brady is, but it is pretty wet around Dallas.
There is a ZF guy in Texas {Final Touch, Jerome?)
