Grease was not an issue when I pulled mine apart, I found them all in bits. Welds were all busted and metal parts were in pieces. I detailed this all in a POCA article earlier this year, just prior to Vegas.
Rather than risk it, cracked welds and metal etc, just replace the ball joints! Same as used on a Fiat 124. They have two sizes, and as I recall, this is the larger of the two, just that DeT used them both the same size and not different top to bottom like Fiat... I don't think the new ones are greasable, but you can lift the boot and put more in!
Should run you about $15 each.
