Has anyone here purchased the carpet kit on Ebay? I've sampled quite a few different carpets, all look great---the cheapest a Wilton II from CarTops Plus, but also the really high quality Italian wool from Reoriginals, World Upholstery, O'Rourke, and another Wilton from Boyriven on a beautiful jute back...
...but at least wrt the engine bay carpets--they are all wrong. I haven't found anything that has the checkerboard texture pattern (the "nap"
or "face") of the original carpets...They are not a 'square weave", they are plush--but something about the string construction makes for such a distinct texture that seems to be a fingerprint unique to the Mangusta...
...and well, 55 years later, mine aren't all that bad..! The interior carpets will be a different story...probably...But (to quote Godfather II), the engine bay carpet, stays! Lee
ps; Still, if I had no carpets and had to make something--the Boyriven Wilton CPW915 is not a bad match...its doesn't have the incredible density of the Italian wools (including the O'rourke, which are awesome) but the overall feel is closer to original....
