Reply to "Mangusta Carpet set on eBay"

...a quick followup, at least to make life easier for anyone who wants to have a Haargarn, it seems there is only really a single choice of product in a short pile (aka velour) carpet. Maybe there at one time was such a thing as a "Haargan wool" , but the Haargarn available today seems to cater for the 1970 Porsche 911S market, and is made of "Zellwolle." After the promotion from many suppliers that their Haargarn is faithfully made with the authentic materials used on those early 911, I tried to understand just what kind of animal hair a "Zell" is--and it seems Zellwolle is the carpet equivalent of "Naugahyde"--google translates to "Rayon" and in fact, all but one supplier say "100% Polypropylene." I took a strange chance on the one supplier that said "wool blend," coincidentally EuropeanAutoInterior had the cheapest  price but arriving on a 79" roll (as every of the others, esp, GaaH, World Upholstery, Relicate, Global Uphostery) I'm pretty satisfied that my carpet is made from recycled water bottles...

And finally, I'm okay with this. As amazing as the Italian Wool is to squeeze in your fingers, it is so perfect it has no look to it. I think likely 8ma1046 and 8ma1076 (with no "salt", really just a pure black) really came from the factory that way, even though adjacent cars (8ma1048 and 8ma1074) have that clear-as-gray look of a Haargarn.  However DeT may have had such variations on carpet (as, well, anything from wiring harnesses to tool bags), I'd conclude that Haargarn is right and pure black is not wrong...but darn, I just like the grayish look!
