Reply to "Mangusta steel valve covers wanted."

Richard,

I haven't seen the repop covers yet but they are probably OK.

Otherwise, if you want to go the original route, the valve covers would be "1968 Ford" items, used on all 302 Fords. I would bet that they would be the same from 1968-1973 or so for 302 and 351W engines. Just in case you have any American parts dealers on your side of the pond.

But, specifically, these engines were 1968 and 1969 bits. If you have a RHD car, I would expect to see later date codes, from 1969 or even 1970 on a car that was very late in production.

Sometimes you can find dates stamped in the various tin works.....and valve covers sometimes have dates in them. Not a terribly big deal at all.....just throwing it out there in case someone that knew, put your stones to the fire about it!

I think Johnny can handle the slight modifications that went along with the Goose "conversion". Again, staying to the later mods which may or may not be the same as the earlier cars! (Carb spring return mounting point and perhaps spark plug wire retainer provisions)

Post us a few pics of your car if you can, and the progress!!!
Cheers!
Steve
