Thanks Lee! It seems logical that Mangusta wheels were designed for tubes, not push-in valve stems...that could explain all the comments from my tire shops.
I can't find any images showing the inner side of a Goose rim (and all my wheels have tires mounted currently...) but something about the area around the hole must be the unusual part of the design, or maybe it's the thickness of the hole 'wall'. The hole itself looks to be 0.625" dia - one of the 2 standard industry sizes - so that can't be the major issue.
Illustrated here are the 'clamp' type stems that worked on 1010 for many years.....as far as I know, nothing unusual about them whatsoever. If the Mangusta rim thickness is unusually large, any clamp-type stem should accommodate that. Maybe finding appropriate 'push-in' rubber stems is the real challenge?
(The stem on the right fits Pantera rims....fwiw it's for the smaller standard size (0.453" dia) stem holes). Anybody have a bare Mangusta rim they could photo to show the 'inner' hole area to shed some light there?! Thanks, Nate
