SOrry to reply sooooo late to this one!
You can always opt for a stock Ford housing, and just run a longer rubber hose with a 90 at the end. I did that for the last few years....until I started my engine swap adventure!
Or you can have a custom one made up to copy the original, but just put a .040" groove in it to hold the T-stat!
I have a picture of one that a guy in TX made up out of stainless! BeautY!!!
ALso, make SURE that you have a ground strap....my car was missing one for a while...and it was EATING up all the metal tubes and a RAD-CAP (with sacrificial anode) in it...the latter is what alerted me to the issue! In 30 days....it looked like pooh!!! ...that's not right!
