I do not think the trim is odd when you consider the details of the whole car. There is bright trim around the car inside and out so a little around that roll structure is a natural. As I recall it was not a conventional chrome door edge guard, materials and construction were the same
but it was longer.

I think you will find it at mylar trim suppliers as they make many snap on and glue on extruded plastic trim pieces.
