Mangusta wheel 'types'

Hi, looking for information on the goose wheels. I have four that look to be magnesium...rougher cast and MUCH lighter than the other I have that is smoother and heavier - aluminum? Am I correct? Were the magnesium ones the earlier ones? When it comes to refinishing, any warnings or tips...here is what I 'think' I know,lol

magnesium can't be heated so powdercoating is NOT an option..and careful when 'blasting' as metal is not so strong?

aluminum = blast away, heat up, doesn't matter?

...please chime in and educate me and discuss here so I learn!
