I have the same fans on my 74, and the shroud on the top as a slight ridge in it to accept clearance for the fans. (Although the fans must be adjusted at just right distance under the shroud to fit). My fans are about 1/4 to 1/2 inch away from the radiator. This set up came with the car, and it originally had the Phoenix radiator in it, so I suspect it may have came from Hall.
