Reply to "motor mount offset"

Note that if you take completely stock lower motormounts and reverse them side-to-side, it shifts the entire engine/ZF package backwards about 5/8". You will have to hammer-massage the sheet-steel ZF mount tabs in back into a shallow 'S'to compensate, but this little detail then allows all Panteras to run big-cap ignition distributors without hitting the firewall, and allows more clearance around the front access panel for bigger alternators. The change is completely reversable. A simple reposition of the shifter-stick centering per the Red Owners Manual is the only adjustment to such a move; water lines, throttlem, electrical etc all are undisturbed by the move. Early lower motormounts have one asymmetric bolt hole for the insulator while later ones had TWO holes, so such mounts will fit either side. Our Sept '72-build L model had one of each...
