Reply to "Mounting the Sugar Scoop"

A bit of history on the 'sugar scoop' also known as the 'Boxer slat'. The carbureted Ferrari Boxer used this add-on scoop mounted so there's an opening between the edge of the cabin roof and the spoiler, to redirect air downward to the Boxers' air intakes at the trailing edge of the decklid. It was belatedly found after the F- car's release that Boxers would run lean at very high speeds due to the airflow not descending to the carb-intake area, which then ran in a partial vacuum. The Boxer slat pulls airflow down and fixes that rare mistake.
On a Pantera, the slat acts as a sunshade and may add some air to a rear wing if one is run & mounted just right. But no one has actually researched this speculation.
