My Crane Cam Any Good?

I just learned that the cam in my Beast with 4V CJ open chamber heads is a Crane HMV-278-2A. Any thoughts on that combination for the street with Edelbrock Performer intake? If I decide to switch to aluminum, closed-chamber heads, should I go ahead and replace the cam at the same time?
