Reply to "My fiero seats"

I have a set of Fiero seats with headrest speakers in my '74 Pantera. What I did to get maximum headroom is as follows:

The bottom seat foam on my seats had a 'bump down' of a few inches. I cut this off level with the rest of the seat cushion.

I used Recaro seat tracks that bolt to the seat only (not the Pantera adapter as well). You can find these Recaro 'sliders' on Ebay.

I bent the tabs with the 3 holes on the ends of the sliders parallel to the slider (they faced 90 degrees down).

I ground down the allen head bolts that came with them for clearence.

I spaced the Recaro tracks out on the outboard side of the seats the get the seat as close to the console as possible (the Fiero seat track bolt pattern and Pantera floor bolt pattern are not exact).

There I drilled and tapped holes for the bolts in the seat frame.

I used half inch spacers at the backs of the seats because I have a thick rug. I bolted the seats to the floor using the middle of the 3 holes in the silder and BAM!, my 5'10' frame fits very comfortably inside my stock floor panned Pantera.

The hardest part was figuring out which parts to use to make it happen. I hope this helps.

Michael
