Okay, on the A/C line fittings, where I got one flare fitting and one o-ring fitting:

I was told the weld-on aluminum male flare fitting which I needed is not available (Confused) so they use the weld-on aluminum male o-ring fitting and provide an adapter fitting. Initially I thought the adapter was missing, but later I found it had been retained inside the plastic moisture cap that had been covering the fitting.

On the heater water line fittings:

I was told the green o-ring A/C fitting is a direct drop-in to the heater valve. Now how something not yet developed in 1972 is compatible to the 1972 heater valve is beyond me, but I was assured it works fine.

When I finally get around to this upgrade later this Winter, you know I will be back posting the actual real-world results of all this.

This is the adapter style used.

Ah Grasshopper, you need to examine the new nipples much more closely. I do.
