Reply to "My new ZR1 Moniker"

Before I give my input let me first start by saying that I do not like to bash products. Mast builds package with a certain customer base in mind. They offer a product to customers that is plug in and simple and comes complete. I have never used the product before so cannot offer a firsthand experience. Now that my disclaimer is our of the way... I downloaded the software and noticed after installing that it cannot be used without a serial number and password. No matter what system we sell or tune I always like to get a feel for the software before purchasing. Seeing as I couldnt use the software I downloaded the manual. I was a little taken back by how dated the software appeared to be. I was also a bit disappointed with the lack of versatility. Keep in mind these ecu's were made by GM for the marine industry and engines in cars can tend to get a bit more complicated. That being said for all intents and purposes this ecu can easily control all basic GM engines. We deal with a lot of imports and they tend to be considerably more heavily controlled by electronics. The ECU's for these must have a bit more flexibility and versatility. We tend to get spoiled with newer and more in depth hardware. Now as I said the Mast stuff will work just fine. If you do get it tuned I would agree with Richard in his recommendation to take it to someone like Bob, who has lots of experience with MEFI. It can tend to be a bit more cumbersome than the stuff many tuners are familiar with. The experience with the hardware will save you lots of time in tuning. So personal opinion: Do I like it? no. (This is based purely on my initial impression of the software. The hardware is reliable.) Will it work for you? Yes.
