Reply to "My wipers won't stop err.... wiping!"

There is a "parking switch" built into the wiper motor. This is the switch responsible for stopping the wiper blades in the exact same spot each time you turn them off. That parking switch is not opening when it should, it has most likely failed. I don't know if it is repairable, or if you are stuck having to purchase a new motor, as I've never worked on that yet.

In the mean time, if you disconnect the green wire from the wiper motor, or from fuse 8, you'll disable the parking switch. The wipers will still work, you'll just be responsible for "parking" the wipers manually, by turning them off at the moment when the blades are in the lowest position.

You can't blame this on Italian wiring. I've seen this happen before, to other cars of both German and American manufacture. It doesn't happen often however.

(Nice avatar, how does a magzine editor get ahold of the large version of that with permission to publish it?)
