Need Air Conditioning Help

When I purchased my car the A/C compressor was missing and the condenser was setting loose in the engine bay.
Is the condenser supposed to set into some kind of box similar to the Pantera and is the fan setup also like the Pantera? What type of dryer is used? I will probably go to an aftermarket compressor used in hot rods. Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Also I have a ford type solenoid and would like to change over to the original style. Does anyone have a # or source for this part?
