Yes, it makes sense. There is a red wire that goes from the battery positive post directly to the ammeter. On the other ammeter terminal (the "load" side), there is a black wire that goes to the alternator stud that is marked "BAT". There are two places along this black wire where four pink wires are tapped (spliced). One tap has two pink wires that go to the headlight switch and the ignition switch (terminal block). The other tap has two pink wires that go to fuses 7 and 8.

In summary, the load side of the ammeter feeds everything except the starter and the "A+" terminal of the voltage regulator.
