new cam set timing, help.

Well I installed my new cam and I can't get the thing to run. I pulled the #1 plug pinston was up so I figured tdc, and set the rotor to #1 on distributor. pump it a few times had my son turn ignition and about blew my head off, not bad but burnt my arm pretty bad it's pretty blistered today. oh I think I have it 180 out is that possible. and how can I get this set, please help before I wreck something.
