I have not used the MSD distributor. But ignition experts say all centrifugal advance should be in by 3000 rpms for best performance. I also suggest NOT using a large-cap distributor (if thats what you had in mind) since clearance to the rear glass metal surround is zero-to-minimal on many Panteras. Engine torque allows the engine to move slightly when the pedal is floored; the cap touches the body, dislodging the cap, which then breaks the rotor.... and you aren't likely to find one within walking dsistance when the engine quits.
