I recently completed the exact installation into 3859, I set the mechanical advance using the installed 18 degree bushing and changed the springs to one silver light, and one blue light spring; this allows the advance to come in starting at 1000rpm and completely in by 2800rpm. My engine is equipped with an Alumn flywheel so I wanted all the advance in within a quick span of rpm's. I recently test drove the car after the install and let me tell you what a difference!!!!!. Jack D. is spot on with his advice....... Install the diode, order the tach adpter #8920 and follow the instructions and you'll not a problem.
