If the clutch disc is stuck to the flywheel, try this:

Jack up the rear of the car so that the rear wheels are off the ground about 2 or 3". Put the shifter in 5th gear (any gear will work) and start the engine. The rear wheels will be turning when the engine is running. With the engine at or near idle, depress the clutch pedal and then quickly apply the brakes. This should free the clutch disc from the flywheel, unless it is "permanently fused" to the flywheel as Bill's was. In some cases, you may have to do this a couple of times.

Exercise caution when doing this. Block the front tires and make sure that there is some extra room in front of the car, just in case something goes wrong (jack slips), and you have to shut down with the ignition key/brakes.
