Reply to "New Paint"

I used the U-POL high solids clear. I fine it's the best out there as for clear coating. But the Dupont Chroma Clear is the next best thing. I like Dupond for paints. The U-POl clear drys harder in my opinion and seems to be a little more durable as clear goes.

The rule of thumb is for every coat of clear is one year of lasting power. You don't want to put it on too heavy with each coat. Too much and it will run on you and that means even more sanding and work. It's best to apply any paint or clear in thin layers and more of them. Letting each one dry for about 15 minutes and then adding the next.

Also remember that after you clear, you are going to wet sand with 1000 if your going to add more clear after the sanding, if not, your going to wet sand with 2000 after the final layers. The wet sanding will take off 2 to 5 layers in itself depending on how much wet sanding you do before the buffing out. So if all you did was put 3 coats on, you'd pretty much be taking it all off after the wet sanding leaving you very little for protection for the paint.

From what I see, your car looks great. You did a great job ! I would be happy to talk to you more about it if you like. Would be easier on the phone. Send me an e-mail with your phone number and I'll call you.
