Hall's old setup used two small diameter air-shocks attached to an on-board compressor, beside the regular suspension shocks. As I remember, the air shocks looked like door-closer cylinders. The air shocks raised the front end about 2" in a minute or so, intended to overcome steep driveways. Very effective on two GT-5 cars I toured with. And if you kept the air-storage tank pumped up, you didn't need to wait the minute it took for the compressor to pump things up. Note that neither of these cars was used in high-performance driving.
