That sure is a different color than what I would expect.... Do you know if you have brass synchros?

Lloyd of RBT told me that the "normal" noise is often caused by pits on the bearing races of the bearings on the rear of the tranny (under the black cast cover).

Not sure if I would try and do anything to those bearings without getting the tranny out of the car, and while you are in there, you might as well check everything else out....
