Not designed for the rain

OK, I know I should not have driven it in the rain but when I went to work it was sunny, and I could not resist. During the day there was a steady light rain but nothing to worry about. I thought it's not heavy enough to find it's way into any hidden pockets and sit there. Anyway, when I went to leave I raised the back lid to put my stuff in the tub and wow. All the standing water drops (beaded up due to the wax) ran into my polished Air gap manifold, valve covers and oil pressure gauge. I thought good thing the msd is on the firewall. Of course she fired right up but I was a bit worried about water making it's way into the clutch through the inspection opening. Mines not covered. Every thing worked fine and I had a little fun sliding all over the place getting home. Next time, if I ever get caught in the rain I will at least try to get most of off the back before I open it.
