Reply to "Oil leaking through speedometer gear"

I have the speedometer gear out of a ZF and it is two pieces. There is the actual gear along with a housing that has both oil seals (o-ring in addition to the shaft seal). The o-ring replacement is straight forward. The shaft seal looks it must be driven down with a socket. The new seal would then be driven back in with some tubing correctly sized so that it only presses on the metal housing of the new seal.

How does this sound to you all?
