Oil,oil filter maintenance

Time for my first oil change. I need to purchase a floor jack and metric tools for the oil plug. Are there any family secrets out there on the easiest and cleanest way to do this? Or should i forget about it and go to the nearest Jiffy Lube? Who changes your oil? #7260
