And at best, the real sender is amazingly IN-accurate. I once borrowed a dozen senders from a shop and, plugged into our engine & stock gauge, I got NINE significantly different pressures- one was 50% off! I use the stock electric gauge as an idiot-light, with a mechanical gauge plugged directly into the engine on a tee fitting when I want real oil pressures.


The only gauge in the car that I ever found was accurate was the fuel gauge! At one of the fun rallies in Las Vegas there was a quest speaker that was involved with DeTomaso during the production of the Pantera. I asked him why they didn't use sending units that were made for the Veglia gauges instead of the Ford ones. He said that it was most likely cheaper to use the Ford units.
