Hello, Is the oil slinger really needed? I'm in the process of replacing the timing chain and found that the engine had no oil slinger between the crank sprocket and the timing cover. I've read that the oil slinger has more to do with keeping oil from spraying onto the crank seal possibly causing leaks more than actually slinging oil around the timing chain. The oil slinger also seems to be a very-hard-to-find part. Please advise. Thanks.
