So, Derrick, since my new timing chain set is a double roller, you're saying that I wouldn't have been able to use the slinger anyway. I never compare one with the other. I'll have to do that.

I've been driving the car for 8 years without a slinger. So, I guess I'm not too worried about an oil leak, but it did bother me when I saw the step in the engine rebuild manual. I did replace the crank seal to fix an oil leak last year when I replaced the harmonic balancer. I found the area nice and dry when I took the front end off to replace the timing chain set. I think I will seal the balancer bolt when I put it back together.
